Foreign capital enterprises in Uzbekistan boost industrial production

Enterprises with foreign capital in Uzbekistan in 2018 produced more than 41 percent of industrial products, Trend reports referring to Nuz.uz.

Official statistics recorded that last year enterprises with foreign investment manufactured products worth 94 trillion soum with an increase of 35.8 percent compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.

The share of joint venture products in total production was 35.1 percent in 2017 and increased by 6 percent to 41.1 percent in 2018.

The contribution to the increase in industrial production of the country's joint ventures in 2018 amounted to 12.3 percent, ensuring the acceleration of reform’s pace and liberalization of economy, as well as improving the competitiveness of products on the world market, the State Statistics Committee said.

The published information underlines that in 2018 the republic’s industry produced goods at 228.9 trillion soum, exceeding the previous year to 14.4 percent.

Some 7,560 operating enterprises with foreign capital as of January 1, 2019 were registered in Uzbekistan, with 4006 enterprises being joint ones and 3554 - with foreign capital.

Most of the enterprises belong to the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, Turkey, China, Kazakhstan and Korea.

The huge part of enterprises with the participation of foreign capital belongs to the Tashkent city with 4728 enterprises (62.5 percent), Tashkent region - 851 (11.3 percent) and Samarkand region - 396 (5.2 percent), the report noted.

The largest number of such enterprises belonged to the industrial sector (2995 or 39.6 percent), trade (1668 or 22 percent).
