By Rashid Shirinov – Trend:

Kazakhstan produced 363,200 tons of nitrogen fertilizers in 2018, which is almost 3 percent less than in 2017, Trend reports referring to Energyprom.kz.

It is noteworthy that in the first half of 2018, the production of nitrogen fertilizers in Kazakhstan exceeded by 2 percent the production volume of the same period of 2017. The decline began in the second half of 2018.

Some 91 percent of nitrogen fertilizers were produced in the Mangystau region: 330,500 tons, 2.3 percent down year-on-year. KazAzot, a large enterprise of Kazakhstan’s chemical industry, operates in the region.

The company produces mineral fertilizers necessary for agriculture, as well as supplies ammonia and nitrate for mining.

In 2018, KazAzot produced more than 330,000 tons of ammonia products, including ammonia, ammonium nitrate and some fertilizers. In 2019, it is planned to increase the production of nitrate by 20,000 tons.

It should be noted that two-thirds of KazAzot products are consumed by local customers. Agriculture receives one third, nitrogen fertilizers, and the mining industry receives another third, explosives.
