A gold bar weighing 2.37 tons was discovered and stolen in Varzaqan county of Iran's East Azerbaijan Province, Colonel Qasim Nazari said.
Some individuals discovered a gold bar in one of the gold mines of Varzaqan county and attempted to smuggle it, Nazari added, Trend reports referring to IRNA.
During the inspection the police officers found the gold bar in the trunk of some individuals’ car, he said.
Four people were detained in connection with the incident.
