In 2018, 72,360 ships arrived in Turkish ports, the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend.
The ministry stated that 38,214 vessels sailing under the flag of Turkey and 34,141 vessels sailing under the flags of other countries arrived in Turkish ports during this period.
The gross registered tonnage of all vessels during the mentioned period amounted to 816,797,526 tons.
The gross registered tonnage of the vessels arriving in Turkish ports under the flag of Turkey amounted to 148,495,100 tons, and the gross registered tonnage of the vessels under the flags of other countries was 668,302,426 tons, the ministry stated.
The ministry noted that in December 2018, 5,395 ships arrived in Turkish ports.
The ministry also noted that in December, 2,701 vessels sailing under the flag of Turkey and 2,694 vessels sailing under the flags of other countries arrived in Turkish ports.
The gross registered tonnage of all vessels in December 2018 amounted to 68,231,279 tons.
The gross registered tonnage of the vessels arriving in Turkish ports under the flag of Turkey amounted to 11,317,245 tons, and the gross registered tonnage of the vessels arriving under the flags of other countries was 56,914,034 tons, the ministry stated.
