Trend:

Iran aims to reduce its economic dependency on oil and is moving towards new technology and knowledge based economy.

“A new generation of entrepreneurs are rising in the society and we are moving away from oil based economy toward knowledge based economy, said vice president for science and technology Sorena Sattari during the meeting with Iran Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance , Trend reports citing ILNA.

Sattari also mentioned the problems in some 4,100 knowledge-based companies in Iran.

"The production in these companies are worth millions of dollars, and we should cooperate to solve the problems these companies face," he said.

Sattari sai these companies have specific problems related to coordination regarding economic infrastructure, and this has affected the new generation of entrepreneurs, and it would force the new technology function with traditional infrastructure.

Foreign exchange fluctuation, customs regulations and tax problems are the main obstacles that challenge the knowledge based companies.

While the country is hit by the US sanctions and faces foreign exchange fluctuation, the government seeks to reduce dependency on oil exports and focus on domestic production.
