A consortium consisting of two Chinese companies and Tehran Wagon Company has launched manufacture of 630 wagons, said Mojtaba Golshani, executive director of Iran’s Tehran Wagon Company, Trend reports referring to the Fars News Agency.
According to Golshani, a tender was held for production of wagons for the Tehran Metro in the second quarter of 2017, adding that the consortium consisting of two Chinese companies and Tehran Wagon Company was announced the winner of the tender.
"About a month ago, the Ministry of Interior stated that the funds for the production of 630 cars were secured," he said.
Golshani said the consortium intends to increase its local wagon production capacity by 55 percent.
