Gold production in Kazakhstan up

Production of raw and semi-processed gold and gold powder in Kazakhstan amounted to 6,308 kilograms in January 2019, which is 0.7 percent more than in the same month of 2018, Trend reports via Kazakh media.

According to the Statistics Committee of the National Economy Ministry of Kazakhstan, in the reporting period, production of untreated and semi-processed silver and silver powder amounted to 57,175 kilograms, 4.1 percent down year-on-year.

At the same time, production of untreated aluminum and aluminum oxide made up 131,134 tons (13.2 percent down year-on-year), untreated refined lead – 10,470 tons (20.7 percent down), untreated zinc – 27,492 tons (3.5 percent down).

Meanwhile, production of untreated refined unalloyed copper increased by 2.8 percent year-on-year to 36,787 tons.

It should be noted that the raw material base of the gold mining industry of Kazakhstan includes mainly medium and small deposits, which account for 70 percent of the all gold produced in the country. The leading positions are held by deposits in Eastern, Northern and Central Kazakhstan.

The largest gold deposits in the country are Vasilkovskoye and Bakyrchik, which are followed by Aksu, Zholymbet, Bestobe and Akbakay deposits.

Kazakhstan also has more than 250 proper silver deposits (with a 70 percent or greater share of silver in ores in relation to other useful components) and complex silver deposits (with the share of 30-70 percent).
