Review of Azerbaijani labor market: Sectors that created most jobs

In 2018, 238,900 new jobs were created in Azerbaijan, including 127,400 permanent ones, Trend reports referring to the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan.

Moreover, 46.8 percent of jobs created during this period are in the private sector.

Moreover, 8.1 percent of jobs created in 2018 fell on new enterprises and organizations, 32.2 percent on existing enterprises and organizations, 0.4 percent on restored enterprises and organizations, and 59.3 percent on individual entrepreneurs.

According to the Statistical Committee, 18.4 percent of new jobs created by legal entities in 2018 fell to the trade and repair of vehicles, 18.3 percent - construction, 13.7 percent - processing industry, 9.4 percent - public administration and defense, social security, 8.9 percent - water supply, treatment and wastewater treatment, 5.3 percent - professional, scientific and technical activities, 3.2 percent - agriculture, forestry and fisheries, 3 percent - education, 2.8 percent - provision of administrative and support services, 2.7 percent - real estate transactions. In the meantime, 2.9 percent fell to the services in other areas, and 11.4 percent - to other areas of economic activity.

In 2018, 41,100 jobs closed in Azerbaijan, 86.1 percent of which fell to the private sector.

Also, as part of the third state program on the socio-economic development of regions, between Jan. 1, 2014 and Jan. 1, 2019, 960,100 new jobs were created in Azerbaijan, including 657,800 permanent ones.
