By Rashid Shirinov – Trend:

The senate of Kazakhstan on Monday voted for the appointment of Yerbolat Dossaev, who previously served as Deputy Prime Minister, the Chairman of the National Bank, Trend reports via Kazakh media.

Dossaev replaced the former head of the National Bank Daniyar Akishev, Trend reports via Kazakh media.

Answering the question of Dariga Nazarbayeva, the Chairperson of the Senate Committee on International Relations, Defense and Security, Dossaev spoke about the priority areas of work.

"Today we had a meeting of the Committee and we raised the question of what needs to be done to improve business access to financing, lending, to ensure that the interest rate on loans is significantly reduced, let's say, at the level of 5-7 percent. Is this realistic?" Nazarbayeva asked.

The newly-appointed chairman of the National Bank, in turn, promised to find effective solutions to this issue.

"Today it is difficult to say that we can reduce the rates to this level, but there is an opportunity to provide an effective tool together with the government, which we have started to implement. These are, for example, the instructions of the head of state related to the implementation of projects in the field of economy of simple things, issues related to the support of import substitution and localization programs. All these programs will be discussed," he answered.

Dossaev believes that within the framework of the implementation of monetary policy, effective ways will be found to ensure that loan rates are available to the final borrower in the form in which they are beneficial, especially on a medium and long term basis.
