Georgia imports stone from Turkey for construction of Anaklia port

Georgia is to import basalt from Turkey for the construction of the port of Anaklia, Trend reports referring to the Turkish media.

It is reported that Georgia will import basalt from the Turkey’s Trabzon Province.

According to media reports, basalt from Turkey will be sent to Georgia by sea.

The construction of the first deep-water port in Georgia began in December 2017. It is being implemented by the Anaklia Development Consortium (ADC), which was founded by Georgia’s TBC Holding and the US’ Conti International LLC, a well-known real estate development company engaged in projects in the fields of infrastructure and capital construction.

Within the framework of the Tbilisi Belt & Road Forum, the management of the port of Anaklia issued memorandums of cooperation with the ports of Baku (Azerbaijan) and Kuryk (Kazakhstan) in order to develop a regional transport corridor and increase its competitiveness. A similar agreement will be signed with the port of Constanta (Romania) in the near future.
