In the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2019), the total output of Iran's greenhouses, which cover an area of 13,000 hectares, is expected to reach 3 million tons, Gholamreza Taqavi, an official with Iran's Agricultural Jihad Ministry, said, Trend reports via Young Journalists Club (YJC).
He noted that in the previous Iranian year (March 21, 2018-March 20, 2019), Iran's output of greenhouse products exceeded 2.5 million tons.
In the last Iranian year, the country's exports of flowers and decorative plants amounted to $30 million, while exports of vegetables exceeded $300 million.
An increase is expected in the exports of Iran's greenhouse products, considering the changes in the foreign currency rates and the demand for these products in target markets, Taqavi said.
He said that special loans are given to those in villages and other settlements with population of less than 10,000 and deprived zones with interest rates of 6 percent and 4 percent, respectively.
