Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, April 5

By Huseyn Hasanov – Trend:

Turkmenistan plans to reconstruct the installation for processing natural gas and producing liquefied gas at the Bagaja field in Lebap province of the country, Trend reports via "Neutral Turkmenistan" newspaper.

On this basis, it is planned to build a gas chemical complex with a capacity of 60,000 tons of styrene-butadiene rubber and 25,000 tons of polystyrene per year. The Bagaja gas processing complex was commissioned more than ten years ago.

Turkmenistan, which possesses global reserves of natural gas, aims to introduce know-how for its processing, which will allow for the production of caustic soda, polyethylene terephthalate and other materials.

The diversification of the gas chemical industry will boost the production of energy-efficient types such as synthetic liquid fuels, polymer products, synthetic fibers, and building materials, local experts say.
