Tehran, Iran, April 17

According to Agricultural Ministry of Iran, agricultural production in the country will increase due to suitable rainfall despite the damage caused by the recent floods in some provinces.
“The wheat had the highest flood damage; however, we hope that the production will exceed the domestic demand,” Agricultural Minister Mahmoud Hojjati said, Trend reports citing IRNA.
Considering the fall and winter rainfall in the past year, the part of the products that was not affected by flood is in good condition, he said. The Minister announced the government’s will to compensate damages to farmers who suffered from the flood and to provide assistance to various sectors through appropriate bills, details of which will be provided later. “Credit allocation to the provinces is based on the scope of the damages,” he added.
As for the import of red meat, it will be purchased with foreign currency at NIMA rate, the Minister of Agricultural Jihad said. In his words, the import of frozen meat requires from three to four months, especially if it comes from Brazil. “But in the case of other types of meat, this period is shorter,” he added.
