Turkmen company Ferhar has planned to meet the demand for bananas in the local market, Trend reports citing Neytralni Turkmenistan newspaper.

The enterprise is located in the Sakarchagin district of the country's Mary province. About 1.5 tons of fruit are harvested here per week. This year, it is planned to harvest over 70 tons of bananas from 1,800 trees on each hectare.

Banana growing can be a promising area of agribusiness, when necessary conditions including adhering to the technology of planting and maintaining an optimal temperature and humidity are observed, the media said.

The height of banana trees imported from Turkey reach more than 6 meters at local farms in Turkmenistan.
