President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was familiarized with main infrastructure projects implemented in Almaty during his visit to the Urban Studies Center, Trend reports with reference to Kazakh media.
As reported, the construction of the Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan factory worth 25 billion tenge is to be launched in December 2019 and will open 700 new jobs. The factory is to manufacture 45,000 cars a year, with 50 percent of them to be exported to the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
The president was informed that third generation buses factory Falcon Euro Bus was launched in September 2018. Total volume of investments totaled 14 billion tenge. The factory employs 200 people and manufactures buses according to the new technique.
The total volume of investments into Japan factory Tokyo Rope Almaty totaled 3.7 billion tenge. The output of the company, which created 30 job places, reached 30 million tenge in 2019.
The construction of the steel pipes factory on the behalf of Asia Steel Pipe Corporation is at the final stage. Its launch is planned for September 2019. Total sum of investments totaled 40 billion tenge. The enterprise will create more than 300 new job places.
The waste-sorting complex launched in 2018 created 530 job places. The total sum of investments amounted to 5.4 billion tenge. Since the start of the operations, the output of the factory has reached 14.8 tons.
Investments worth 10.9 billion tenge were made in Oil and Fats factory “EFKO Almaty”, which was launched in December 2017. Currently, 489 people work there. Last year, factory’s output totaled 55,308 tons, 47 percent of which was exported.
Total sum of the investments in Kazlegprom-Almaty garment and footwear company totaled 2.5 billion tenge. It created 450 job places. Last year, the company’s output totaled about 1.2 billion tenge.
The president was informed that overall, some 39 projects worth 144 billion tenge are being realized in Almaty industrial zone. They are estimated to create about 5,000 new job places.
"Four new projects worth 37.6 billion tenge are to be launched in 2019. They are to create 484 new job places," the news report said. "Five-star hotels Hilton and Kempinski are to be opened in Kazakhstan with investments worth 22 billion tenge."
It is also reported that in the last three years, more investments worth more than $5 billion were attracted into Almaty. In 2018 investments increased by 10.5 percent, while foreign investments increased by 17.6 percent.
In 1Q2019 positive dynamics have been observed in Almaty’s industrial development, agricultural business, retail and wholesale trade. More than 170,000 small and medium business operate in the city, employing about 594,000 people. Within the framework of entrepreneurship support some 110 industrial and innovative projects worth 236.4 billion tenge are being monitored. These projects are to create than 10,000 new job places.
