This Iranian year (started on March 21, 2019), 4,000 tons of medicinal herbs are planned to be harvested from the areas in Iran's Markazi province, head of the department of the Agricultural Organization of Markazi province Ali Asgar Zarei said.
Meanwhile, 950 hectares of the province accounted for Damascus rose, 280 hectares - saffron and 253 hectares - other medicinal herbs, he said.
Last Iranian year 190 kilograms of saffron, 1,600 tons of Damascus rose and 1,500 tons of other medicinal herbs were harvested, Zarei added.
He said that the revenues worth 400 million rials ($9,500 according to the official exchange rate and $2,680 according to the exchange rate in the black market) are obtained as a result of planting medicinal herbs in each hectare in the province.
