Kazakhs prefer to purchase locally made cars

For the first time since 2016 over 5,500 of new cars worth 52 billion tenge were purchased in Kazakhstan, Trend reports via KazAutoProm.

Some 58.6 percent on the sale accounted for cars of local manufacturing.

In the period of January-March 2019 some 18,838 cars were sold in Kazakhstan, which is 20.5 percent more than in the same period of last year. In the reporting period, citizens of Kazakhstan spent some 172.8 billion tenge ($456.7 million) on purchase of new cars, which is 41.3 percent more than in the same period of last year.

In April 2019 the volume of cars sale (5,549 units) exceed the volume of last year by 27.7 percent.

The value of market amounted to 52 billion tenge ($136.9 million) which is an increase of 47.7 percent compared to the same period of last year.

Some 10,449 of buyers (55.5 percent) purchased cars of Kazakh manufacture, whereas some 8.389 buyers (44.5 percent) purchased imported cars.

Lada is the leader by purchase in April 2019 (4,743 units). It is followed by Toyota (4,115), Hyundai (3,450), KIA (1,259), GAZ (682), Renault (643), Nissan (611), UAZ (546), Lexus (496) and Volkswagen (480).

BIPEK AVTO – AZIA AVTO Group is a leader by volume of cars sold (35.6 percent) and it is followed by KMK Astana Motors (24.3 percent). The list of Kazakh manufactured cars that were purchased the most includes Virazh (six percent), Toyota City Almaty (six percent), Toyota Center Zhetysu (2,5 percent), Automir (2,2 percent), Mercur Auto (1,9 percent), Aster Auto (1,7 percent), Allur Auto (1,4 percent) и Toyota Center Kostanay (1,4 percent).

The largest amount of cars was purchased in Almaty (5,112), Nur-Sultan (former Astana) (3,700), Atyrau (1,333), Shymkent (1,227), Karaganda (1,150), Kostanay (1,109), Ust-Kamenogorsk (808), Aktau (776), Oral (770) and Aktobe (670).
