Greenhouse vegetable producer to increase tomato production in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan’s Bina Agro company, cultivating greenhouse vegetables, intends to increase tomato production due to the growing demand for the company's products, the company told Trend.

"The sales volumes of our company's products increased by 20 percent compared to first four months of 2018,” the company said. “We would like to increase the volume by 10-15 percent till late 2019. Our products cover demand for tomatoes in Baku and in several cities of the country.”

According to the company, the average prices for greenhouse tomatoes in winter and autumn vary between 3.5-4 manats, while in summer prices they decrease to 1.5 manats per kilogram.

Presently, prices for the company's tomatoes vary within two manats per kilogram.

Bina Agro company launched its activity in 2011 by constructing greenhouses covering an area of ​​six hectares.

The company has GLOBALGAP certificate confirming that the product has been obtained in compliance with the requirements on agricultural product safety standards, and the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) certificate that guarantees the quality and safety of the manufactured product. According to this certificate, the products can be exported to the markets of Europe, the US and Canada.
