Uzbekistan launches its first insulin plant

A plant with a production capacity of 10 million ampoules of insulin per year began operating in the village of Khartoum, Andijan district of Uzbekistan in April 2019, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan.

The project has been launched with the Ministry of Health, the Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry and Zamin Bio Health LLC investing funds in the project that would help with diabetes treatment.

“Until now, insulin was imported into the country. With the full capacity of the enterprise, 30 percent of the products will cover the domestic market demand, which will reduce the share of imports, as well as expand export opportunities, save foreign currency and reduce the cost of the drug,” says the message.

According to the Ministry of Health, all the necessary clinical research work has been completed in the country to produce high-quality insulin, while clinical trials of three types of insulin Juslin N, Juslin R, Juslin 30/70 have been completed successfully.

Recently, these drugs have passed the state registration and received permission for their use in medical practice.
