Products worth $450 million were exported from Iran with 1,370 newly released commercial ID cards during the first month (March 21 to April 20) of the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2019), said Mohammad Reza Modudi, head of Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization, Trend reports referring to Tasnim News Agency.

Modudi said that this export was implemented via new trading cards, but added that these statistics could signal danger for Iran's exports.

He also said that reforms should be carried out in the field of foreign exchange in order for former exporters to be engaged in exports once again.

Exporters in Iran should export a portion of the foreign currency earned from exports to the NIMA system (in case the earned foreign currency exceeds 1 million euros). This has led to the protest of many exporters in Iran, with some having decreased or ceased their exports.

The involvement of new exporters is hesitantly welcomed by Iran’s official circles, as it is probable that they may not return the currency earned from exports to the Iranian economy.
