Iranian rail transportation company to repair 280 passenger cars

The Raja Rail Transportation Company of the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways will use public funds to repair 280 passenger cars, managing director of the company Mohammad Rajabi told ILNA, Trend reports.

According to Rajabi, it is possible to use 20 trillion rials (app. $476 million) to repair passenger cars over 30 years old.

Rajabi added that a contract for repairing 280 passenger cars was signed with Iran’s Wagon Pars company.

"Repair of each passenger car costs from about 16 billion rials (app. $380,000) to about 12 billion rials (app. $285,000)," he noted.

He said that efforts will be made for the provision of 85 passenger cars this Iranian year (started March 21, 2019).

Commenting on the purchase of passenger cars and spare parts from foreign companies, Rajabi said that the RAILEXPO 2019 is the best opportunity for securing the provision of equipment by foreign companies.

The 7th International Exhibition of Rail Transportation, Related Industries & Equipment (RAILEXPO 2019) will be held in Tehran on June 9-12.

The exhibition will be attended by local companies, in addition to companies from Germany, China, Sweden, Turkey, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Russia, Spain, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, the UK and the UAE.
