Nearly 61% of foreign enterprises of Uzbekistan operate in capital

As of June 1, 2019, 5,332 (60.7 percent) of operating enterprises with foreign capital accounted for the city of Tashkent in Uzbekistan, Trend reports with reference to Uzbek media.

The three regions preferred for foreign capital include, besides the capital, the Tashkent region, where there are 953 enterprises with foreign capital (10.8 percent) and Samarkand with 450 enterprises with foreign investments (5.1 percent).

In total, as of June 1, 2019, the number of operating enterprises with foreign capital in Uzbekistan was 8,785. Official statistics recorded that, compared to the same period last year, their number increased by 2,658, or 43.4 percent. Most of them belong to the Russian Federation (1601), the Republic of Turkey (1319), China (1062), the Republic of Kazakhstan (645) and the Republic of Korea (717).

From the published information follows that 4,521 enterprises with foreign capital are joint, 4,264 are foreign. At the same time, the bulk of the existing enterprises with the participation of foreign capital falls on industry (3242) and trade (2088), the smallest share falls on health care and social services (117).

If we consider newly created enterprises with the participation of foreign capital by economic activity, their main part falls on industry - 440, trade - 411, construction - 171, agriculture, forestry and fisheries - 126 and other types of activity - 141 enterprises.
