Iran expects to produce 120,000 tons of olives

This Iranian year (started March 21, 2019), 120,000 tons of olives are expected to be produced in Iran, said Rahmatollah Parichehr, deputy minister of agriculture jihad and executive of the olive project, Trend reports via Mizan news agency.

He said that at least a 20 percent growth is expected in the olive production.

He noted that last Iranian year (started March 21, 2018) nearly 102,000 tons of olives were produced.

Saying that last Iranian year, 7,000 tons of olive oil was produced, the ministry official added that this year, the volume will reach 8,000 tons.

He noted that last year, 3,500 tons of olive oil was imported from Turkey, Italy, Spain and Greece.
