Ireland shows interest in joint economic projects with Turkmenistan

Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan hosted a meeting with David Donoghue, the Ireland's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Trend reports with reference to Turkmen Foreign Ministry.

The delegation of Ireland stressed the need to develop joint economic projects. At the meeting, the possibility of preparing a package of draft documents in various fields was suggested for consideration.

In addition, the parties proposed to establish contacts between businessmen of the two countries by organizing visits of Irish businessmen and holding a business forum in order to increase the level of trade and economic relations,.

The agricultural industry of Ireland takes the leading position in Europe in the export of agricultural products and this experience is interesting for Turkmenistan, according to the ministry.

Last year, Turkmen entrepreneurs visited Ireland in the framework of the EuropeAid project “Promoting further sustainable development of agriculture and rural areas in Turkmenistan”.

Turkmenistan grows cotton, wheat, rice, sugar beets, melons and gourds.
