Georgia increases profits from export of wine

The demand for Georgian wine is increasing, National Wine Agency of Georgia says, Trend reports via georgiatoday.ge.

In the first half of 2019, Georgia exported nearly 40 million bottles (0.75 l) of wine to 44 different countries around the world, which is 6 percent more compared to the same time period of the last year.

The total profit obtained from the sales of Georgian wine amounted to $98 million, which is 9 percent more in comparison with 2018.

The top exporters of the Georgian wine include Russia (25 582 447 bottles), Ukraine (3 752 488 bottles), China (3 554 127 bottles), Poland (1 821 802 bottles) and , Kazakhstan ( 1 656 318 bottles).

Georgia has also increased exports to strategic markets, including the USA, China, Poland, France, Germany, Estonia and Lithuania.

According to the National Wine Agency, 229 Georgian companies were engaged in the process of exports in the first six months of this year.
