Iran to launch 7 freeways till 2020

Iran is constructing seven freeways that will be launched in 2019 and 2020 as part of country's road development plans, said the Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Trend reports ed citing ILNA.

"The construction of 5,000 kilometer freeway is on the agenda of Ministry of Roads and Urban Development. Currently, 1,116 kilometers are being built," Kheyrollah Khademi added. "The government financial sources will provide part of credit for freeway construction, and the rest will be provided by private sector."

"Tehran southern freeway passage, which shall reduce the traffic between Tehran and Alborz province, is 157 kilometer long, and 70 percent of the construction is completed. About 85 percent of Hemmat Karaj freeway construction has been completed and the works will be completed in next three months," he said.

"While Tehran-North freeway section 1 will be launched as planned, while Isfahan eastern freeway, Khoram Abad- Borujerd , Urmia-Tabriz and Isfahan-Shiraz freeways will be commissioned in 2020, increasing the length of country's freeways by 26 precent," he noted.

"About $71 million credit has been assigned for construction of Tehran-North freeway,and $23 million are assigned for Hemmat –Karaj freeway construction," he said.
