Export of goods from Iran’s southwestern Chaharmahal and Bakhtiyari province has dropped by 40 percent over the three months (March 21-June 21, 2019) of the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2019), compared to the same period last year, Siavash Nazari, director of the foreign marketing department of the Industry, Mine and Trade Organization of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province, told IRNA, Trend reports.

According to him, the products exported during the three-month period were worth $11.8 million, although this figure stood at more than $19 million during the same period last year.

Nazari added that 4.7 million tons of products were exported during this period, which shows a 70-percent decline in terms of weight when compared to the same period last year. "The causes for the decline in exports are rooted in sanctions and the devaluation of foreign currencies in Iran," he said.

Nazari noted that aluminum, rubber and copper items, household goods and dairy products were exported to Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Turkey and Central Asian countries.

Iran’s Chaharmahal and Bakhtiyari Province currently has 1,200 production and industrial enterprises, with 40 enterprises primarily involved in export operations.

The US imposed sanctions on Iran in November 2018, and subsequently expanded its list of sanctions.
