By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:
Georgian electricity distribution company Telasi distributed 1,452 million kW/h of electricity in the first half of 2019, which is 3.2 percent less than in the same period of 2018 (1.501 million kW/h), Trend reports via the Telasi website.
The decrease in distribution happened because of one the largest consumers, BBD Georgia, which became a participant in the free electricity market and no longer buys Telasi products. Due to changes in the legislation of Georgia from May 1, 2018, large consumers of electricity can make purchases in the free market.
In January-June 2019, electricity consumption in Georgia decreased to 1.375 million kW/h, which is 5.2 percent less compared to the same period of 2018.The decline in this indicator also led to a significant transition of consumers to the free market.
Within 6 months of 2019, the number of subscribers of JSC Telasi increased by 4.4 percent (27,100 subscribers) compared to the same period of 2018 and amounted to 645,400 subscribers, of which 581,600 are individuals and 63,800 are legal entities.
According to the data of January-June 2019, the total length of the company's power lines reached 5,767 km, which is 4.7 percent (259 km) higher than the figure for January-June 2018 (5,508 km). The total length of the company's power lines has increased due to the development of the network, increasing the number of subscribers and renovation and modernization work.
JSC Telasi is one of the largest electricity distribution companies in Georgia, which distributes electricity in Tbilisi. The company supplies electricity to more than 600,000 consumers. JSC Telasi joined Inter RAO in August 2003. Inter RAO Group is a diversified energy holding that participates in many sectors of the power industry in Russia and abroad.
