Export of gold from Georgia decreases

Georgia’s foreign trade turnover amounted to $5,968.3 million in January-June 2019, Trend reports with reference to National Statistics Office of Georgia.

In this period, exports from the country amounted to $1,775.4 million, and import - to $4,192.9 million.

According to the Statistics Office, raw, semi-manufactured and powder gold was among the top 10 export commodities. Its export reached $32,857,500 last month compared to $39,996,200 in the same period of the last year.

Gold in Georgia is produced at a plant in the village of Kazreti (Kvemo Kartli region) of the Madneuli Mine and Processing complex. This precious metal is among the top ten export products of Georgia. In 2018, the share of processed and semi-processed gold in the total export volume amounted to 2.1 percent. Over the year, gold worth about $70 million was exported from the country.
