Iran to commission thermal power plant in East Azerbaijan Province

A part of the Heris Thermal Power Plant located in Heris County of Iran’s East Azerbaijan Province will be commissioned on August 1, said Amir Dodabinejad, an official of the Iran's Thermal Power Plant Holding, Trend reports referring to ILNA.

According to him, the part of the station to be commissioned will produce 310 megawatts of electricity, while the other part of the station (to be commissioned by next summer) will produce 180 megawatts of electricity. The station will thus produce 490 megawatts of electricity.

“The construction of this station cost 239.8 million euros. Of these, 4.8 million euros were provided by the [station’s] investor, and the rest by the National Development Fund of Iran,” he said.

Dodabinejad also said that the main fuel for the plant is gas and diesel will be used as a secondary fuel.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani will also attend the opening ceremony of Heris Thermal Power Plant.
