By the end of 2019, the investments in the water supply sector of Georgia will amount to 585 million lari, a spokesperson of Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission told Trend in an interview.

According to the Commission, most of the works under the investments were initiated in 2015-2018.

“We calculate tariffs by a special incentive method every three years. The current consumer tariffs, which were set in 2017, cover the period 2018-2020,” said the spokesperson.

As reported, nine licensed companies operating in the water supply sector serve 55.8 percent of the population. Water supply for the rest of the population is under the responsibility of local government authorities.

According to the Commission, since the beginning of the year, the volume of supply of drinking water by the existing water supply licensees reached 247 million m3 (including 41 million m3 for commercial consumers; 64 million m3 for household consumers with individual meters and 142 million m3 for household consumers without individual meters).
