Revenues from fruit exports in Georgia in January-June 2019 amounted to $29.2 million, Trend reports referring to National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
For the six months of 2019, Georgia exported nuts worth $13.2 million, apples worth $4.2 million, bananas worth $3.5 million, tangerines worth $2 million, and pistachios worth $1.3 million.
According to the same data, fruit exports from Georgia in January-June 2019 decreased by 22.5 percent compared to the same period in 2018. In January-June 2018, fruit exports amounted to $37.7 million. Nuts were the leaders in export and the revenue from their export amounted to $28.2 million.
The revenue from exports of vegetables in Georgia in January-June 2019 amounted to $8.1 million. During the reporting period, Georgia exported tomatoes worth $1.6 million, potatoes worth $0.8 million, mushrooms worth $0.8 million and cucumbers worth $0.7 million.
According to Geostat, vegetable exports decreased by 2.4 percent in January-June 2019 compared to the same period last year.
The export of vegetables in January-June 2018 amounted to $8.3 million. The leading export positions were held by tomatoes and potatoes. Tomato export revenue was $3.7 million; and potato export revenue was $0.4 million.
