For seven months of 2019, enterprises with foreign investment in Uzbekistan manufactured products worth 52.4 trillion soums ($5.5 billion), Trend reports with reference to State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.
The share of products of enterprises with foreign investment in the total volume of industrial production amounted to 29.9 percent. Last year, over the same period, the share of enterprises with foreign capital in the total industrial production amounted to 32.7 percent.
According to official statistics, in January-July of the current year, there was a noticeable decrease in production indicators of joint ventures and foreign enterprises.
The bulk of the existing enterprises with foreign capital (about 3,500) is concentrated in industrial production. In total, as official statistics show, as of August 1 of this year, 70,500 enterprises are functioning in the Uzbek industry.
The total number of enterprises with foreign capital in Uzbekistan for the seven months of this year exceeded 9,300 and increased by 2,833 units (by 43.8 percent) compared to the corresponding period of the last year.
As of August 1, 2019, the city of Tashkent accounted for 5,563 operating enterprises with the participation of foreign capital. The top four regions that are preferred by foreign capital also include Tashkent region (1021 enterprises with foreign capital), Samarkand region (477 enterprises with foreign investments) and Fergana region (359 enterprises).
