The first International Investment Forum was held on August 22, 2019 in the city of Gulistan, Syrdarya region of Uzbekistan, Trend reports with reference to the Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan.
The forum was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in conjunction with the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade and administration of Syrdarya region. Representatives of relevant ministries and departments, the diplomatic corps of the country and heads of more than 200 foreign companies from more than 30 countries including representatives of 15 leading Italian companies participated in the event.
According to the results of the forum, about 30 agreements on cooperation in various fields were signed. Among them, four documents were signed by the administration of the Syrdarya region, local entrepreneurs and representatives of Italian business in such areas as the development of solar energy, interaction in agriculture and environmental cleanup.
Speaking at the forum, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Italy Otabek Akbarov said that Uzbekistan will cooperate with the leading Italian medical company Villa Maria Group, which intends to invest in the creation of its first cardiovascular center in Uzbekistan, in the city of Gulistan.
If this pilot project is successfully implemented, Villa Maria Group will launch similar centers in Samarkand, Zamin and other cities of Uzbekistan. The company is also working on the issue of creating a modern Center for Endocrinology in Namangan, read the message.
Work also is underway on the projects for the production of leather and leather products with Italmatec and Italprogetti, natural stone processing with Margraf, and production of sportswear with Robe Di Kappa at Wellfort factory.
The ambassador noted that another promising area of cooperation is the creation of a plant for the production of innovative building materials (in particular, fixed formwork) together with the Italian-Swiss company Plastedil.
