Kazakhstan approves measures for light industry development

During the second five year plan of Kazakhstan industrialization, 21 projects worth 18.5 billion tenge have been implemented in the area of light industry, the Minister of Industry and Infrastructural Development Roman Sklyar said, Trend reports with reference to the press office of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurship Atameken.

The information has been disclosed during the first forum-exhibition of ventures of light industry ALTYN OIMAQ in Kazakhstan.

Sklyar noted that the goods of light industry are the second most important types of goods after food items. Some 13,000 people work in the industry.

“Over the period of second five-year plan, manufacturing of unique to the country goods was launched. These include carpets, yarn, synthetic and wool items. The dynamic is observed. Latest macroeconomic events concerned with raw materials market revealed the necessity of economy diversification,” Sklyar said.

According to the minister, the diversification will become possible following revision and organization of raw materials industries, modernization of manufacturings, including via transfer of modern technologies and legislation update.

He further noted that in order to support the area, concessional lending of Kazakh ventures has been implementing since 2019 within the framework of ‘economy of simple things’. The government has also approved a roadmap for development of light industry till 2021.

“The program will solve a number of systemic barriers and it is also aimed at creation of full cycle manufacturing with added cost and increase of manufacturing volume. This roadmap was developed in close cooperation with associations and business and we hope for its successful implementation,” the minister concluded.
