Uzbekistan has designed a concept on the exit from medium-tier to become a developed country by 2030, Trend reports citing Uzbek media.

Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry of Uzbekistan Jasur Aripov stated this during a round table with the participation of international experts and representatives of relevant ministries.

According to the deputy minister, in order to ensure the long-term stable economic development of the country, as a logical continuation of the “Strategy of Action on the Five Priority Directions for the Development of Uzbekistan in 2017-2021”, the “Concept for the comprehensive socio-economic development of Uzbekistan until 2030” has been prepared.

“We discussed this issue with experts from the United Arab Emirates, the UN, the United Nations Development Program, the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, together with the Presidential Administration, the Cabinet of Ministers, interested ministries and departments, and developed a concept based on their proposals and recommendations,” Aripov noted.

Within the framework of the concept, a program of basic measures has been defined, providing for ensuring macroeconomic stability; accelerating the transition to a market economy; strengthening social protection and services for citizens; transforming the growth of the demographic factor into effective economic growth; improving the role of the state in a strong market economy; effective use of the regional factor; pursuing a targeted investment policy while ensuring economic growth and structural changes; and improving the efficiency of environmental use.

The purpose of the concept is related to the latest model of human capital development and investment policy focused on the result and efficient use of the potential of the regions.

According to estimations, the population of Uzbekistan will be 39 million people in 2030.

As a result of the implementation of the concept, inflation is expected to decrease by 4.3 percent by 2030 (in 2018 this figure was 14.3 percent). It is also predicted that the tourist flow to the country will increase from 4.8 million to 7.2 million. The concept implementation shall also lead to the increase in per capita income and the development of services, construction and industry.

In addition, the concept provides for the introduction of an effective social protection mechanism, which covers pension reform, social protection systems, the introduction of social insurance and the improvement of social services.
