Non-oil products worth $6.37 million were exported from Astara district of Iran’s Gilan province by rail during the five months (March 21-August 22) of this Iranian year (started on March 21, 2019), Director General of Astara Customs Office Rasoul Omidi said, Trend reports citing IRNA.
He said that the production volume reached 81,800 tons. He added that ceramics, cement, stone and clinker were the main export products.
“For the five months, 92,700 tons of products worth $27.9 million entered Astara railway terminal,” he said.
He noted that the main imported products were MDF (medium-density fiberboard), wood and grain.
He added that Astara railway terminal has not yet joined the railway in Rasht district. For this reason, the products are transported by trucks, he said.
The Astara (Iran)-Astara (Azerbaijan) railway line was launched between Azerbaijan and Iran in March last year.
