Georgia simplifies customs procedures

Harmonization with EU legislation will allow Georgian entrepreneurs to carry out economic activities in the EU without additional tax and customs procedural barriers, said Minister of Finance of Georgia Ivane Machavariani, Trend reports citing commersant.ge.

Speaking at a joint meeting of parliamentary committees on economic development, the minister spoke about the reforms being implemented with the aim to improve the business environment and bring the national tax and customs legislation closer to the EU legislation.

As he noted, from September 1, 2019, Georgia has introduced a new Customs Code, which greatly simplifies customs procedures. According to him, there are also ongoing public discussions on the new Tax Code.
