Georgia will continue to support young, promising innovators in technology sphere, said Natia Turnava, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Trend reports citing commersant.ge.

Georgia’s Law “On Information Technology Zones” was amended to encourage people and companies in the field of information and technology.

Turnava touched upon the concept of developing virtual zones, speaking at a joint meeting of committees in the parliament. In particular, according to her, Georgia has the prospect of becoming one of the leaders in the region in the field of innovation and high-tech services.

“Together with international assistance, the state finances startups through grants for the development, use and commercialization of innovative products and services with international potential,” said Turnava.

According to her, the ministry has developed a policy document in the field of transport logistics, in which one of the main directions is the development of logistics centers.

“We think that we will introduce appropriate standards for logistics services. Our mission is to make Georgia not only a transport, but also a logistics center, which includes the development of a number of areas, including a wholesale center, a warehouse center, so that the country receives all the benefits that the development of the transport corridor provides," said the minister of economics.
