Iran's policy forces down car prices

Iranian government recent policies in the auto sector would help reduce the auto prices, professor at Khajeh Nasir Toosi University of Technology in Iran, Shahram Azadi told Trend.

"Considering the rise of auto production in recent months, the situation for auto supplies has improved," he said.

"While the fall of foreign currency rate is another important element that would effect the auto prices," he added.

"Currently the customers expect more cuts in prices. Considering the policy of the government and the Central Bank, it is expected that the car prices would continue to decrease," he said.

"Supply of auto parts and determination to improve domestic auto manufacturing and increase of the production volume would have serious effect on the decrease of auto prices," he indicated.

Recently, the Iranian government spokesman has said that the Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Reza Rahmani has discharged Iran Khodro Managing Director Hashem Yekezare.

Following the news, the arrest warrant was issued against Yekezare, who was charged with fraud.

The deputy minister of Industry Farshad Moghimi has replaced the former Iran Khodro CEO and the minister has indicated that the changes are creating the ground to reduce auto prices.
