Japanese companies intend to attract investment in undeveloped sectors of Uzbekistan

Japanese companies “Sumitomo Corporation”, “Mitsubishi Corporation” and “Itochu Corporation” have expressed readiness to expand their presence in Uzbekistan, as discussed at a meeting on Sep. 9 at the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan with the heads of representative offices of these companies, Trend reports citing the press service of the Ministry.

During the meeting, issues of strengthening and developing mutually beneficial cooperation with each of these companies were discussed in such areas as automotive, textile, chemical, mining and food industries, as well as establishing new contacts and ties with leaders in Japanese industry.

Entrepreneurs also shared their views and experiences on spinning off business in Uzbekistan in a transforming economy and investment climate.

In this regard, Japanese entrepreneurs expressed their willingness to expand their presence in Uzbekistan by diversifying the spectrum of their interests and attracting additional investment in previously undeveloped sectors of the economy.

The leadership of the Ministry, in turn, singled out as its main priority the creation of the most favorable conditions for Japanese business with the goal of fully utilizing the enormous potential for investment, trade and economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan.
