Tehran, Iran, Sept.11

Trend:

Iran's Minister of Cooperatives, Labor and Social Welfare has announced that individuals with high income will be removed from the subsidiaries' list.

We try to stop paying subsidies to wealthy individuals from September 23 to October 22, said Mohammad Shariatmadari, Trend reports citing IRNA.

"The government has assigned four related organizations to follow the issue; however, the organizations have not provided their complete instructions so far," he added.

"The effort is to avoid any pressure on low income class, so the parliament has approved the decision to remove three high income strata from the subsidiaries' list," he said.

"The issue is considered due to current economic situation and its effect on consumer prices," he indicated.

Iran started to implement its subsidy reform plan since November 2010 by paying 455,000 rial (about $10) to each citizen. The subsidies amount to $82.5 billion in total.
