Mechanical engineering manufacturing up by over 8 times in Kazakhstan

Baku, Azerbaijan, Sept.12

By Nargiz Sadikhova – Trend:

Over the course of implementation of two five year plans of industrialization, the manufacturing volume in Kazakhstan’s mechanical engineering increased by eight times, the Minister of Industry and Infrastructural Development Roman Sklyar said, Trend reports with reference to the press office of the ministry.

Sklyar made the statement during the VII Forum on mechanical engineering of Kazakhstan, which is taking place in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan.

According to the minister, today mechanical engineering is one of the most important and complex areas of industry from the technological point of view and its development is providing for stability of activities of agricultural, energy, metallurgy, transport and other key sectors of economy.

“Over the course of implementation of the industrialization program some 114 projects were realized. The country has managed to launch manufacturing of new types of products. Auto industry and railway engineering were developed from scratch, whereas the areas of agriculture, electrotechnical, mining and oil engineering have been significantly modernized and improved. All of this has been achieved thanks to the successful industrial policy of the country,” the minister said.

As noted by Sklyar, a steady increase has been observed in mechanical engineering in recent years. Thus, during 2018 the value of manufacturing in mechanical engineering exceeded one trillion tenge. The same dynamic is observed in 2019. The value of manufacturing amounted to 661 billion tenge during first seven months of 2019.

The largest share in the structure of mechanical engineering accounts for auto industry.

During the implementation of two five year plans of industrialization the auto industry has become of the main drivers of mechanical engineering of Kazakhstan. The volume of manufacturing in the industry has increased by eight times since 2010. The share of the auto industry in total volume of mechanical engineering amounted to 19.2 percent compared to four percent in 2010.

In turn, the area of electrotechnical engineering is characterized by the most stable dynamic of manufacturing and its advanced localization compared to other areas of engineering.

Areas such as railway, agriculture, mining and oil engineering of Kazakhstan are characterized by implementation of robotic welding complexes in manufacturing.

With an idea of further development of mentioned above areas, the roadmap for industrialization oversees target measures of mechanical engineering ventures support and a number of challenges, which are to be met.
