First Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan Achilbay Ramatov met with Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani in Tashkent, Trend reports citing the press service of the Georgian Foreign Ministry.
Zalkaliani arrived in Uzbekistan on September 11, and this is his first official visit to the country.
During the meeting, Ramatov expressed interest in the transit infrastructure of Georgia for exporting products. "Particular attention was paid to the opportunity to consider ways of cooperation in the transport sector. The Uzbek side expressed interest in exporting goods using the transit infrastructure of Georgia," press service reported.
Ramatov and Zalkaliani also discussed issues of trade and economic cooperation and stressed the necessary to intensify the work in this direction, read the message.
Furthermore, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov said that Uzbekistan is interested in using the transport, communication and transit infrastructure and the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway to enter world markets.
As noted, Uzbekistan is also interested in the port infrastructure of Poti, Batumi and Anaklia.
In addition, the Uzbek side expressed its readiness to hold a Georgian-Uzbek forum in Georgia with the participation of entrepreneurs from both countries.
