Uzbekistan plans to terminate the state procurement of raw cotton and wheat, stated in the draft presidential decree "On approval of the Strategy for the Development of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2020 - 2030", Trend reports referring to the regulation.gov.uz portal.
According to the draft document, the main goal of the strategic priority is to develop a state policy to ensure food security without using state planning tools for the production and purchase of wheat through government-set prices.
The draft decree states that Uzbekistan plans to completely stop state procurement of raw cotton and wheat, with the exception of purchases to maintain the intervention fund.
As the Minister of Agriculture Jamshid Khodjaev specified, since 2023, Uzbekistan has been proposing to completely stop the state order of raw cotton and wheat.
