Taskent Tobacco factory in Uzbekistan made the first export supply of its products, Trend reports via Uzbek media.
The first consumer was Kyrgyzstan. The counterparty in Kyrgyzstan was the Bereke trading network.
According to the director of the plant, Pulat Saidov, this is a test delivery, by the end of the year, deliveries worth $ 4.5 million to Central Asian countries are planned.
Tashkent Tobacco Factory was opened in 2015. In 2017, Japan Tobacco International (JTI) provided the Uzbek company with equipment and rights to produce cigarettes of Winston and LD trademarks.
Despite such a short period of operation of the enterprise, the plant began active work on the export of its products. As a result of the conditions created by the state for export opportunities, the plant’s products successfully enter the foreign market.
Commenting on the first export delivery of the plant, Yevgeny Nikolsky, JTI General Director in Kazakhstan and Central Asia, said that “The economic and production potential of Uzbekistan is growing. This is the result of the integration of Uzbekistan into the world economy and the orientation of the country's leadership to create a favorable investment climate. Our project is a good example of this.”
He also recalled that the total investment in the creation of Tashkent Tobacco amounted to $ 40 million, which made it possible to equip it with the most advanced high-tech equipment manufactured in Germany, France and the Netherlands. By the end of the year, it is planned to launch another high-performance line.
The company controls a little more than 10 percent of the domestic market for tobacco products.
Last year, Tashkent Tobacco replenished the budget of the country in the amount of over 100 billion soums in taxes and other payments. More than 100 jobs were created in the factory and more than 200 in distribution in the regions of the country.
