Russian Railways looking into participating in Bukhara-Miskin-Urgench-Khiva electricity supply

Russian Railways company is working on issues of participation in project on electricity supply of Bukhara-Miskin-Urgench-Khiva railway line, which is to start in the near future, Trend reports with reference to Uzbek media.

This became known during the second meeting of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) railway administration heads held in Nur-Sultan on September 19, 2019.

The Bukhara-Miskin-Urgench-Khiva railway line is 467 kilometers long, According to the preliminary, the cost of the project will exceed $430 million, some $168 million of which are the funds allocated by the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank in co-funding with Asian Development Bank.

The construction of eight traction sub-stations, partitioning post, telecommunications system is planned, as well as the procurement of equipment for maintenance of electric locomotives, vehicles and mechanisms for utilization of contact network.

Furthermore, Russian Railways is also interested in participating in work of Chinese-Kyrgyz-Uzbek working group on the project of construction of Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan-China railway line.
