Goods worth $26 million have been exported as part of suitcase trade via the Bileh Savar customs in Iran’s Ardabil province so far this Iranian year (started March 21, 2019), said Director General of the Ardabil Province Customs Office Parviz Taqavi, Trend reports citing IRNA.
He said that they were mainly exported to Azerbaijan.
He added that non-essential goods were exported as part of suitcase trade.
“Ardabil province is in the top 3 in terms of suitcase trade in Iran, and this trade has contributed to the development of the province,” he said.
Noting that imports of goods through the Bileh Savar customs increased, he added that all imported goods are raw materials and products in demand in the manufacturing sector.
He said that the revenues of the Bileh Savar customs increased by 456 percent due to increased imports.
The Ardabil province has three types of customs: airport customs, the Ardabil customs and the Bileh Savar customs. It is one of the main trade gates of Iran with Azerbaijan, Russia and Georgia.
