Kazakh Altynalmas assessment: Nearly $100M needed to develop Dolinnoye field(Exclusive)

Kazakh gold producer AK Altynalmas JSC is planning to start development of Dolinnoye gold ore field in Kazakhstan’s Karaganda region in January of 2020, the representative of the company told Trend.

In June of this year, the Eurasian Development Bank has allocated funds to Altynalmas JSC in order enable the company to purchase and further develop the field. The loan worth $36.5 million has been allocated for the period of seven years.

The exploration on the field has been launched in 2017, however in the end of 2017 the work has been suspended due to the ongoing negotiations with AK Altynalmas.

As stated by the representative of the company, the construction of crushing and sorting workshop, repair and maintenance workshop, gold extracting plant the capacity of which will be 2.5 million tons of ore a year and the creation of over 200 new work places is planned within the framework of the field development.

“Based on the preliminary data, the value of funding required for development of the field is about $100 million,” the official said.

The representative of the company also noted, that currently there are plans to extract 13 million tons of raw material from the field in 2020.

“In doing so, this will include 10 million tons of overburden (waste rock) and over 2 million tons of gold ore,” the official said.
