Iran's mushroom exports to Iraq are expected to reach about 27,000 tons in the current Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 to March 21, 2020), Chairman of Iran Edible Mushroom Growers Association Mohammad Hassan Afshar said, Trend reports via Young Journalists Club (YJC).

Iran can import 20 tons of mushrooms to Iraq on daily basis, Afshar said.

Afshar added that if customs and foreign currency problems are solved, Iran can export mushrooms to Afghanistan and its northern neighbors.

The daily mushroom output in Iran is between 300-400 tons, the chairman said.

Presently, producers sell one kilogram of mushrooms for 120,000 rials ($2.85 - official rate; $1.05 - black market rate), which is a reasonable price, and the retail price announced by the association is 140,000 rials ($3.33 - official rate; $1.22 - black market rate) for a kilogram of high quality mushrooms.
